Summer is a good time to embark on training for running a 5K, half marathon, marathon or even a triathlon. The feeling you get when you cross the finish line is second to none. It is fun for you or even as a group. Follow the tips below for a successful race.
- Summer is a good time to start training. It will give you eight to 16 weeks of training time before the running season start. Do not rush; gradually increase the intensity of your training. The rule of thumb is to increase the intensity by ten percent a week.
- Add strength training to your plan at least twice a week. It will help you to build strength and your joints. Unilateral exercises along with core stability exercises can strengthen and increase your performance.
- Don’t forget your recovery time as you increase your intensity of training. You can use foam roller every day to relax and recover after each workout.
- Keep your nutritional intake in check. You need more fuel to burn. Recovery shakes are best way to get replenished.
- If you are unable to succeed on your own, join a team with a similar goal. Training gets more fun with a group that has similar goals.
